Good to know I'm not the only one who uses the plastic grocery bags for poop. LOL Hubby shops with his reuseable bags but as soon as we start to get low on plastic bags, we make a trip to the store for a big grocery store. Love that I can tie them and then pitch them in the garage.

I used to use them for diapers but they were talking about charging here in Portland too.
I bought cloth bags but forget to take them.
I buy a roll of dogpoop bags at IKEA for $1.49. I think there are like 50. They fit a HUGE poop-filled diaper perfectly! I have a stock of these for when I need them! The plastic bags are saved for the catbox!
And we too are earth saving people! We recycle, we compost, we have chickens, we save water, we turn off lights, etc. but take away my plastic poopy bags.... and we will have a fight on our hands. Though, I know the day is coming....

I hear ya regarding plastic bags. I've had to purchase the ones from the dollar store. Just once so far. One Mom has started to send her extra platic bags. Every grocery store around hear charges for bags so I have to use cloth bags. The Walmart here doesn't have hand held baskets and I refuse to use the big wheeled carts. I want in and out FAST, so I told them last year if they don't get hand held baskets I'm walking around the store putting my purchases into a cloth bag (before I get to the cash), they didn't get any so I shop quickly with my cloth bag, then head to the cash for my plastic LOL.

I get panicky too when I get low. I do ask parents...

I get panicky too when I get low. I do ask parents to send some in especially those that are cloth diapered. I throw each diaper outside as I don't want them in the house and then they go right to the garage. I think I would like to retrofit the bathroom wall with a poop shoot to the outdoors - just haven't figured out the logistics.

Judy that was one of your best posts! Loved it! I am also a plastic bag junkie! I panic when my bag holder starts getting low!! That warrants a trip to walmart for the free bags. The only grocery store in town who makes you pay for the bags is closing it's doors next month so although I may miss buying in bulk for my daycare I won't miss having to pay for the shopping bags I use! However I also love the canvas enviro bags too. I have a nice collection of them from many stores, any store I enter I will purchase at least one of their enviro bags! Number one, my boys are paper delivery boys and these sturdy bags come in handy in the winter when we can't use our rolly cart to get from one place to another. I can simply drop off bags of ten papers for the boys ever ten houses! (not looking forward to this by the way when the weather turns) And number two, then I don't feel so guilty for hoarding all these plastic bags for my dirty diapers!! I'm still doing my part for the environment!

I always figured I was as tight as they come due to my use of plastic shopping bags for poop storage. Nice to know I am not the only one using them. I always thought I was doing a good thing by re-using them as I am going to get them anyway - I can never remember my cloth bags when I leave the house. Until now I have always felt "less than" as I don't have one of those proper diaper genie disposer thingies - but they use bags too don't they? Either way, the garbage dude better take my stuff, I pay for my bag tags like everybody else where I live.Otherwise we will be know as "that stinky place with all the kids." Oh, and cetscare, thanks for the tip! If I ever start remembering my reusable bags, it's good to know there is a cheap alternative for my plastic bags!!

I'm glad I'm over the diaper stage here!!! If it gets to that point where there are no bags you could always purchase a box of bags meant for dog poop at the Dollar Store - you get 48 poop n' scoop bags for $1!!!! Perfect size for a diaper - they're even scented and it says they're biodegradable (not sure if that part is true?!?)
