Last year I had the kids make pumpkin jello and bring it home as part of our pre thanksgiving celebration. This is my second Thanksgiving with my son Campbell and I&#39;m thankful I can share him with my family far away as we are visiting in Northern Ontario this week. I hope all of you ladies enjoy your time off. It&#39;s much deserved! As Kimbercare said, life is good! Although we do regularly give to our local food bank, I am inspired by mustbenuts&#39;s post about getting the kids involved. Maybe a field trip idea when I get back could be bringing the kids to drop the food in the bin at our local grocery. I am also thankful for you Judy, I think my first few years providing care would have been alot easier if I would have felt like someone else in the world was going through the same thing as me. Your blog is my personal time out in the afternoon and, honestly, I am not sure I would still be a CCP if I had not come across your blunt and true account of how things really are and how to cope.<br /><br />As for sharing my good fortune, the kids&#39; school has a food drive for Thanksgiving and we loaded up the wagon (overloaded, really) with 3 10 lb bags of potatoes, and 3 10 lb bags of carrots and dragged it with a 19 mth old in there too to school earlier this week. <br /><br />I just love this time of year when everyone is starting to get ready for the long winter ahead and settle in. I am thankful today for a quiet end to the week, three little kids here today, all resting/sleeping while I roll newspapers for my boys to deliver after school today. I am not thankful for the snow which arrived last night and is still falling, very few flakes, but just enough to give us a taste of winter! For those of you travelling, drive safe this weekend! My bag of food went to the church last weekend and more events are planned from now until Christmas where food will be donated generously all over the city. I am thankful for my warm house today, I&#39;ve been under the weather most of the week, even took a sick day on Tuesday, the first sick day I&#39;ve ever allowed myself in ten years of daycare! I think I have you to thank for that Judy, that and everyone being overly cautious about H1N1 this year. The parents who would otherwise bitch and complain probably have strict rules enforced at their own workplaces this season! Seriously though I&#39;m thankful to have found your blog. The gal who told me to check it out no longer provides care so I&#39;m glad she told me when she did. I think I&#39;ve stepped up a bit this year and have started doing things more geared towards me and my family like taking that sick day for once and scheduling days off to be with just my own kids. And raising the rates in September probably wouldn&#39;t have come about without reading your posts full of wisdom.
