Well I just finished doing my adding,and that of 3 other dcp ... I think that mom in China has a new car thanks to our shopping lol. I try and to the "environmental" thing as much as possible. We do recycle COUNTLESS items during the year, but I'm afraid if I start making the kids cut up tini little pieces of paper for their own sparkles or reuse the pom poms on their pictures that line my walls I'm sure they will notice. Hey maybe I could get them to bring back last years Birthday presents in exchange for this years ... ahhh never mind I'll just start feeding them hotdogs and pizza pops.

Must be the week to tally up reciepts! A few fellow dcp's I know mentioned that they were doing it and i also started last night. As for Dollar Store and Wal-Mart...yeah I'm guilty there too. But I figure that I will be doing my part to 'recycle' as I will be closing for a few months for my Mat leave and 'Donating' any toys/supplies I feel are beginning to clutter up my house. I have already purged a lot of things and resources and contirbuted greatly to our city's recycling program.
Tax time is a real eye opener...not just on the money front!

Sorry Judy, I don't agree on this one. I don't spend a lot of money on craft supplies, and I spend very little on plastic crap from China. We use mainly stuff that we find on our walks for craft supplies, and I do let them play with the bread dough before we bake it! I also frequent the Reuse center (Edmonton, GREAT place to take the dayhome kids, by the way, and let them "shop"). There are ways to be an 'enviromentalist' dayhome provider, and not have to use the neighbours charcoal.

I hate total time. It's always so depressing to see how much I spent versus what I got paid. Providers already know this but to any parents reading this, my groceries for the year cost just about 20,000$....now on to tallying the cost of our monthly excursions......

Awsome post Judy. I too did the Walmart and Dollar Store count this week. Yikes! Also did the Grocery Store tally, its no wonder parents tell me their kid eats better here then at home. They should I spent enough on their food last year.
